The motivation for having other than mind map help is that new users are not yet used to using mind map documentation. HTML help makes a transition from HTML help to mind map easier.

Currently, there are several documentation efforts going on. This page should help us to keep track of what's going on.

  • Shailaja Kumar has released English documentation for FreeMind version 0.8.0 PDF here.
  • Steve Auerweck is working on Windows .chm documentation of FreeMind, based on FreeMind's mind map documentation contained in the distribution. He has published his preliminary version at freemind.gardennanny.com. The chm can be downloaded here. Steve has demonstrated how to make the very same help available in non-Windows distributions using JavaHelp. His JavaHelp beta version is downloadable from freemind.gardennanny.com. Last action: 15.7.2004.
  • Joerg Ferlein was working on a larger user manual, written by him in German. It shall be translated into English afterwards. Last action: 6.5.2004.
  • FreeMind is getting indirectly documented here at Wiki, especially at asked questions page.
  • Joerg Isselmann has send us a Tutorial mind map; editable directly in Wiki.
  • Simon Redding (Violetlight) is working on internals and API documentation to help him to learn the plugin APIs etc.
