Bundling JRE

There is an ongoing discussion whether FreeMind team should provide a Windows installer that budles JRE, releasing the user from the burden of installing Java herself.

Issues:

  • Licensing: Is this legal, given FreeMind is licensed under pure GNU GPL V2+?
  • Security updates: Is this a good idea given Sun regularly provides security updates?
