SimplyHTML
SimplyHTML is the HTML editing component used in FreeMind 0.9.0 and later. Other editing components that were considered and rejected in favor of SimplyHTML are listed at Rich text (development)
SimplyHTML was greatly enhanced for FreeMind by Dimitry Polivaev and Dan Polansky, two FreeMind developers. A set of patches by Dan was incorporated by Dimitry in years 2007-2009. It was Dimitry who took the lead on proposing SimplyHTML as superior to alternatives and made initial changes to it.
Dimitry seems to have switched SimplyHTML development from SourceForge to GitHub, as part of Freeplane.
SimplyHTML is provided to FreeMind as a single file, SimplyHTML.jar, located in lib folder alongside freemind.jar. Theoretically, updating SimplyHTML would consist in replacing this file with a newer version; an API change in SimplyHTML would prevent that.
SimplyHTML can be run as a standalone application, by running the jar file (on Windows, one double clicks on the jar file).
Spelling: The project name is spelled as "SimplyHTML" (capital S, all-capital HTML) per SourceForge project page. The same spelling is used in the jar file name.
